Amsterdam-Zuidoost is one of the seven Amsterdam city boroughs.
Amsterdam Zuidoost (South East) is one of the relatively newer residential areas of Amsterdam. The originally rural area wasn't formally annexed by the Amsterdam municipality until 1966.
The oldest residential area in Zuidoost is the Bijlmermeer a.k.a de Bijlmer. De Bijlmer has in recent years been subjected to large scale city renovation projects (1992-2016). Over the years a lot of other residential areas have been erected in the district, such as Gein, Gaasperdam, and Venserpolder.
"De Amsterdamse Poort", is the largest shopping centre of the Zuidoost district, and is also host to a lot of office buildings. De Amsterdamse Poort is located on the East side of the Bijlmer-Arena train station.
On the West-side of the Bijlmer-Arena train station lies the Bullewijk area, which contains another large shopping area, and the famous Amsterdam Arena stadium, which is the official home base of the AFC Ajax soccer club.
The Amsterdam Arena stadium is flanked by two of the largest concert halls and event centers of Amsterdam: the ZiggoDome and the AFAS Live (formerly known as Heineken Music Hall).
Bullewijk also contains a large terrain dedicated to businesses and office buildings.
