The Amsterdam Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum introduces it's visitors to the history of the use and applications of hash, marijuana and hemp through several thematic exhibitions. Also known as "Museum of Grass", and "Musee Du Canabis", this small museum is located on the Oudezijds Achterburgwal near the Red Lights District in the centre of Amsterdam.
Apart from the recreational use of cannabis and its derivatives, the museum highlights the medicinal, religious and industrial applications of the plant in the past and present.
A large area of the museum is dedicated to exploring the industrial applications and possibilities of the hemp plant in textile, building, food, fishery and paper manufacturing to name a few.
A lot of information can be found on the differences between several variations of the cannabis plant and the museum owners conveniently maintain a seed shop nextdoor to the museum.
