Ten Katemarkt

Ten Katemarkt

The Ten Katemarkt is a popular day market located on the Ten Katestraat in Amsterdam-West. The Ten Katestraat intersects with the Kinkerstraat which is also a busy shopping avenue. The popular food and culture centre "De Hallen" is literally around the corner.

The Ten Katemarkt is a typical Amsterdam neighbourhood market. It is open six days a week and has a large diversity of stands selling both fresh foods and non-food products. The market area is surrounded by small cafés, shops and lunchrooms. The Ten Katemarkt is one of the larger day markets in Amsterdam.

The Ten Katemarkt has over a hundred years of history. The Ten Katestraat became an official day market location in 1912, around the same time as the Albert Cuypmarkt and Dappermarkt

The Ten Katestraat was named after 19th century Dutch poet and pastor Jan Jakob Lodewijk ten Kate.
