Marktkantine is a nightclub on the Jan van Galenstraat in Amsterdam West. The building was formerly known as Marcanti Plaza.
As the current name suggests, the building was originally built as a canteen for local market workers, working on the large food market area directly behind it.
In 1956 the building was transformed into a large theatre, which it remained for the following years. In the 1990's the Marcanti gained fame as a location where big house music parties were regularly hosted.
After a period of disuse the venue was re-opened as Marktkantine club in 2014. De Marktkantine building is still up for demolishment soon, as a part of the city's plans to drastically restructure the market terrain surrounding it.
