OCCII (short for Onafhankelijk Cultureel Centrum In It) is a cultural centre and music venue focused mainly on independent and alternative culture and music, e.g. indie, punk, hardcore, post-punk, wave, gothic, noise, experimental etc.
OCCII also organizes and participates in counter culture and art festivals and workshops.
OCCII is run by volunteers and has it's cultural origins in the eighties Amsterdam punk and squatter scene, which is still very noticeable in the current atmosphere and culture.
The pittoresque building was originally designed and built in the 19th century as a horse tram shed, coincidentally by the same architect that designed the buildings of the Melkweg and the Paradiso - Abraham Salm. After being squatted in the late eighties it has been in use as a music stage in 1992.
