OCCII Amsterdam

OCCIIThe OCCII is a cultural centre and live music venue located near the Vondelpark in Amsterdam-Zuid

The OCCII is one of Amsterdam's most active hosts for concerts and events in the alternative music genres. OCCII offers a stage to performers from all over the world playing punk, hardcore, crust, post-punk, indie, wave, gothic, noise, experimental, and many of less definable musical backgrounds.  Don't expect a lot of commercially big names on stage here, but there is ample space for experiment and idiosyncracy.

OCCII (short for Onafhankelijk Cultureel Centrum In It) also organizes and participates in counter culture and art festivals and workshops.

OCCII is run by volunteers and has it's cultural origins in the eighties Amsterdam squatter scene, which is still very noticeable in the current atmosphere and culture.

The pittoresque building was originally designed and built in the 19th century as a horse tram shed, by the same architect that designed the buildings of the Melkweg and the Paradiso -  Abraham Salm.

After being squatted in the late eighties it has been in use as a music stage in 1992.
